The 2s lost by 17 runs at home to Hertford in a thrilling game watched by many of the 1s, 3s and 4s who all finished earlier.
Having set KPCC 320 from their 50 overs, Hertford started strong with a wicket in the first over shortly followed by another in the 4th. This brought Rob Morley to the crease alongside Mark Woods. The pair were going well with some free scoring boundaries before Rob miss timed a sweep for 47 with the score on 122 from 14 overs.
Ryan Hassall soon went for 4 leaving Mark and Lewis Hutchinson to put together a partnership and progress closer to the total – both players scored freely and a built a good partnership of 87 before Lewis fell for 49 with the total on 194 from 34 overs.
With the team still up with the run rate in came Dean Digweed who along with Mark continued to progress towards the total before Woods fell for a fine 95 leaving 91 to win from the last 9. Some lusty blows from Dean, Saqib, Jack and Ian at the end weren’t quite enough to bring the guys home leaving The Park 17 short.
