On a lovely hot day and a flat wicket Hemel Hempstead won the toss and elected to bat, the track played well and they got off to a good start. Knebworth remained wicketless through to the 30th over thanks to the 2 openers’ (who finished on 70 and 71) excellent stand of 139. However, The Park dragged it back and restricted the hosts to 209-7 thanks to some good spells from Darren Hopcraft 2-39 Ed Emsley 2-42 and Syed Abdi 2-15
Knebworths reply didn’t get off to the best start losing the skipper early for just 15, but Darren Hopcraft 72 and James Bedford steadied the ship but the run rate slowly started to increase just after James fell, but up stepped youngster Luke Mably with an excellent 40 to get the park close. With 20 still needed off the last 2 overs and after losing a few quick wickets it looked like it might go down to the wire, and that it did with some good running from Ed and Nick Pain and an unfortunate 5 wides for Hemel. Syed Abdi hit a perfect drive to win it for the park with a ball to spare.
A great all round round team performance The Park went back to Knebworth with a win.
