These are difficult times for cricket clubs up and down the country. The game is on hold and months of work preparing for what promised to be a terrific season could yet come to nothing. Worse still, the weather has been perfect for cricket and a far cry from rain-sodden, gloomy and chilly Aprils and Mays of yesteryear.
The club is not going away. However, it needs the support of all members to battle through these difficult months. Here’s how you can help:
Pay your subs: We have shaken up the system and cut adult rates to just £30 a year with a voluntary donation. This will help the club take full advantage of its charitable status. If you can contribute, you can make a payment here
Go shopping: Most of you must be buying goods and services online. Add easyfundraising to your PC browser or the app to your mobile if you haven’t done so already. Then when you buy online a small donation goes to the club without it costing you anything. Many members haven’t done this. Some have and the rewards are surprising. All you have to do is sign up here now.
Help on the ground: The Park is looking fantastic at the moment thanks to the work of Chris Johnson on the squares. Loads of other members have been pitching in, sorting nets and scoreboards. But there is always plenty to do and it’s got to be more interesting and rewarding than sitting at home bored to tears by lockdown. Get in touch with Chris if you have an hour or two to spare.
Keep in touch: Many are keeping in touch with motivational Facebook messaging and those who aren’t on Facebook are urged to join the club’s Facebook so you can stay in the loop. Of course, keep checking in on this website for updates, too.
We hope to be playing again soon. In the meantime, please stay safe and keep well.
