The new season is just days away and it promises to be a great year at the Park.
Forecasters say this weekend is going to bright, sunny and warm so no need for the traditional three jumpers, thermals and bobble hats for our first fixtures.
The action kicks off with a First and Seconds combined team against Reed, while the Thirds and Fourths take on Salmagundi Gardeners, a social side for people people living and/or working in the vicinity of Covent Garden. Both games start at 12.30.
There are two more weekends of friendlies and warm-ups before the league season starts, a little later than usual, on May 11.
We have Charlie Randall returning as Firsts captain this year, with Rob Morley taking over the Seconds. James Roos steps up for the Thirds while Jonathan Cirkel continues after a fine first year with the Fourths. Give them your support.
The club is hoping for a serious push this season after one or two sides have slipped down the divisions in recent years.
Here’s how you can help make sure it is a winning season.
Come to training: The first outdoors training was held on Tuesday. Coach Luke Heskett is bringing a new energy to the sessions
Help us recruit new players: If you know someone who might like to play, is thinking about it or just needs to get some exercise, twist their arm and get them along
Make yourself available: If you can play, let us know. Try not to make excuses. Classics in recent years include “Oh, I’ve just decided to lay a patio instead” and “Oh, I’ve just realised I’ve got a wedding tomorrow”. Fill in your availability on the Doodle form circulated by email.
