Training is the key to success. We all know from our mixed performances on the field last year that the harder we work at our game, the better we play.
Next year, the push is on to improve and get our sides moving up through the leagues.
Winter training is the first step and nets have been arranged. They will take place at Kingshott School, which is on the outskirts of Hitchin on Wednesdays from January 16.
It runs from 7pm to 8pm so it’s just an hour a week.
Please make an effort to be there. If you turn up for the new season feeling fit, relaxed and already in a cricketing groove you will play better and enjoy the season more.
Enough preaching, it’s also time to have fun. There’s lots going on as we move into the party season, so make some space in your diaries to support your club.
First up is the Ted Skeggs memorial day on November 4. It’s a chance to salute one of the club’s great stalwarts of days gone by. The raffle and draw for a new made-to-measure bat from Charlie French will also be held.
On November 23 you can tax the little grey cells at another quiz night organised by Paul Sheffield. It’ll be £5 each on tables of six. Individuals can be merged into groups. If interested, book with Paul by phone or text on 07801 452800.
We’re running a day out to the Saracens v Wasps match on December 1. Anyone interested should contact Chris Johnson. A coach is being arranged to take us there and back.
And at the risk of mentioning there is just two months to Christmas, our Christmas Drinks Party will be at the club on Sunday, December 16, from 1.30. There will be festive nibbles and drinks.
Please make an effort to support these events.
