Are you a player or parent who cares about the future of our club and has a few spare hours on your hands?
Then, we would like to hear from you as we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to train as junior cricket coaches.
It doesn’t take much. A short training programme and you are ready to go, helping our experienced team running sessions for children of all ages.
The juniors section is the lifeblood of any club as it brings in new talent and keeps our sides strong and competitive. This year, the evidence was clear to see in the emergence of players such as Ollie O’Brien, who took hatfuls of wickets and struck his first senior century, and a clutch of talented girls excelling at senior level.
Anyone keen to help, please contact Neil Pitts on neil_pitts@sky.com or Chris Johnson on chrisjohnson.1@sky.com and training will be arranged through Herts Cricket.
We have a strong programme of winter activities for children, with two separate weekly juniors training days – one for softball and one for hardball.
The hardball academy is open to all players who have played hardball cricket in season 2018, or are looking to progress to hardball for summer season 2019.
There will be 15 two-hour sessions, held at Heath Mount School, Watton-at-Stone, from 2pm to 4pm starting on Sunday, November 25, through to April 2019. As places for this are limited, selection will be based on on age and ability.
The softball academy for boys and girls aged six to 11 will be on Thursdays from January 17 from 6pm to 7pm at John Clements Sports Hall, Codicote.
Spaces for both these courses are limited, so do book early by emailing Neil Pitts on neil_pitts@sky.com
