Outdoor training for seniors, which is open to juniors eligible for Saturday cricket, begins tonight at 5.30.
Remember, we urgently need all players to send in their date of birth for the league registration – a new stipulation this year.
Also subscriptions are now due and can be easily paid via ClubPay. Or can be paid by card or cash this Friday.
Remember this Friday 7 April starting at 7pm, we have the season’s launch with the visit of Charlie French, expert batmaker, who will be bringing a selection of bats and equipment. It will also see the launch of our new brewery with special offerings of Warsteiner and Kaltenburg lagers and from America, Shipyard Pale Ale.
There will be competitions for the biggest hit off a tee and a speed bowling competition. Free entries for those who’ve paid their subs and a fiver for those who haven’t.
The winner of each competition will receive a bucket of Budweiser with 6 x bottles on ice. If a junior wins then the bucket will contain 6 x soft drinks of their choice.
There will also be the launch of a raffle to be drawn later in the season where prizes will include a places on the Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy in the Summer holidays.
Another work party is planned for Saturday 8 April with the aim to paint the inside of the clubhouse.
We’ve also an Easter training camp on 12 and 13 April, from 10 till 2 for all boys and girls aged 13 and over. Free of charge (and includes pizza for lunch!). Open to members and non-members. To book or for more details, contact Leroy van der Westhuizen on 07341 843301.
The club has also signed up to be part of the nationwide All Stars cricket programme which will be run at half term, from 10 till 3.30 for four days, not as the programme’s website advertises.
There is also set to be training weeks in the summer holidays, details on these to follow.
We will also have two old friends, Graham Rose (known as Rosie) and Jarrod Turner (JT) from Australia at the club this year – both of whom are outstanding coaches – and will be contributing to helping the training and coaching programmes.
The first cricket action on the field for the senior teams is an inter-club game on 15 April and the first juniors Sunday training session is on 23 April.
As always we’re always looking out for new members, including boys and girls, adult helpers and parents who would like to play cricket themselves.
Remember, also, we need more helpers for running the juniors training. Phone Chris Johnson if you can help.
