It is with much sadness and shock to report the death of Chris Dance, a long-serving player and club stalwart who died suddenly yesterday.
Chris, the son of our Thirds umpire Bill Dance, embodied much of what has made the club strong. Dedicated and determined on the field as a bowler, lower order batsman and second team captain, he was equally committed off the field as a highly efficient treasurer.
As a cricketer he didn’t take comfortably with losing, he wanted his team to win – and they did most of the time.
Chris played his cricket for the club through the late 70s, 80s and into the 90s and to a lesser extent in the current decade.
Our thoughts go to his parents, Bill and Jean, and Chris’s wife, Sue and his children.
