For the second time this season Ampthill’s Will Sneath destroyed Knebworth Park as they romped to a ten-wicket win.
His accurate medium-pace outswing saw him take 6 for 38 in 15 overs, to add to the eight he took against Knebworth earlier in the season.
After the Park had a terrific win the previous week against Ampthill’s fellow promotion chasers, Shenley, only opener Josh Roseberry 19, Tom Liversidge 22 and Matt Hutchinson 25 made any impact in a dismal total of 102 which Ampthill overhauled without loss in only 12.5 overs.
The second team also had a disappointing day as they lost by eight wickets to Berkhamsted who bowled out the Park for 106.
Knebworth were 75 for 3 with Haydon Bartlett-Tasker 25 and Ben Orchard 24 before Brad Klosterman 5 for 23 ripped through the middle and lower order as seven wickets fell for only 34 runs.
The third team battled hard for runs at Cockfosters thirds where both stand-in skipper Bobby Orlandi 52 and Charlie Randall 54 helped them reach 167 all out.
The Park’s youthful team which worked hard in the field couldn’t break the back of the home team who won comfortably by six wickets with 170 for 4.
The fourth team almost denied leaders Hitchin 3rds victory before they were all out with just eight balls remaining.
Hitchin cruised to 249 for 4 in only 44 overs. The Park then fought hard with the bat. Phil Wheeler struck 35, Marcus Blackburn 22 and Paul Sheffield 24 before new player Daniel Hurst was last out for an impressive 57 as they were dismissed for 172, Hitchin gaining the reward for making a bold early declaration.
