A much-needed victory in the Herts County Cup ended a run of defeats for Knebworth Park as they overcame Redbourn to go through to the quarter-finals.
Ross Courtney removed the first three batsmen in his spell of 3 for 19 in ten overs to put Knebworth in the driving seat.
Skipper Guy Warman with 4 for 43 then did the damage in carving through the middle order, while Graham Fisher (0-30) also bowled ten economical overs.
Redbourn’s skipper George Naismith (60) held the visitors’ batting together as they finished on, what on paper, looked a below-par 179 all out.
The Park were steaming towards victory, led by Josh Roseberry (62) before he top-edged a leg-side slash and was well caught with a diving catch.
Roseberry had also been well supported in an opening stand of 68 by Rob Morley (34).
Roseberry’s dismissal led to a flurry of wickets with Keagan Foley (29) caught and bowled by leg spinner Conor Yorath. who bagged 4 for 32 in causing a few nervous twitches as they slipped from 139 for 1 to 158 for 6 before Courtney and Warman calmly saw them over the line with three wickets to spare.
