Knebworth Park will once again be right at the heart of developing girls cricket this year.
We will be hosting training sessions for under-11s throughout the first two months of the season as Knebworth Park try to build on the successes of their girls’ section over the past few years from which many girls have excelled at club and county level.
Girls’ coach Jonathan Cirkel, who has coached the Park’s girls’ sides to a string of age group county finals and titles, will be leading the sessions and will be supported by David Lightning and potentially some of the older girls.
The sessions are open to any under-11 girls whether trying out with cricket for the first time; having played at school or have some other prior experience. Thanks to some funding from the county, the sessions are free of charge.
Sessions will be run every Sunday from April 17 through to June 5, from 10am to 11.30am. If you spot them training, do give them plenty of encouragement.
Girls cricket is being given a push throughout the area. Schools receiving coaching sessions from the County include St Andrews, Round Diamond, Longmeadow, Bedwell, Ashtree, Oakview, Watchlytes and Holy Family.
We are keen to get as many girls involved in these sessions as possible so if your child, sister, niece or cousin wants to give cricket a go or you know someone who does please encourage them to attend.
