Knebworth Park is celebrating the life of one of its past stars, Nick Simpson, with a day of cricket and music on Sunday.
The event will combine a 20-20 match and a fabulous line-up of musical entertainment to keep you entertained well into the evening.
Nick was a highly promising fast bowler who died at the age of 19, just as he was breaking into the Hertfordshire senior side. Off the pitch, he was a talented musician.
His brother, Phil, has also been a stalwart of the club’s First XI.
The memorial match was postponed from earlier in the season because of bad weather so we decided to add the game to our MusicFest, a fund-raising event which was a big hit last year and is fast becoming a regular fixture on our social calendar.
Chairman Chris Johnson said: ‘This is going to be a fabulous day, a chance to salute a promising talent whose life was tragically cut short and to enjoy some brilliant music, too. The bar and barbecue will be running as ever and the sun should be shining to complete the perfect line-up.
‘Last year’s music day brought in a really good crowd with some excellent entertainment but there is always room for more. We really need every member of the club to join in, take part and support our fund-raising efforts. Please make an effort to be there.’
