He may wear the most luminous batting helmet in league cricket but Nick English is a shining light at the Park. It was a terrific effort to get the ground playable for this weekend’s league fixtures after the horrendous downpours on Friday and this was down to the efforts of chairman Chris Johnson, groundsman Ross Courtney and Nick who turned up in the rain on Friday evening to make sure the pitches were covered so they were fit for action the next day. Meanwhile, we would also like to salute the effort of Darren Dean who was behind the BBQ during the visit of our old friends Roving Reporters on Thursday. Your long stint over the hot grill was much appreciated.
Every week, we thank the member or supporter who has gone that extra mile to help make our wonderful club that little bit more wonderful. We’d like to offer them a holiday in the sun or the latest smartphone for their selflessness but instead they will have to make do with this small public thank-you.
