In the wickets: Sayf-Ali Khan took 4-14 to set up the victory
New trousers, new trainers, new team!
Inspired by birthday boy Graham Fisher, Knebworth Park notched up their first win of the season in the Saracens Herts League Division One away to Old Finchleians.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, skipper Charlie Randall got to utilise his new equipment (his new-look team) early in the day.
Sayf-Ali Khan (4 for 14) led the way, taking a wicket in his first over, rattling the castle.
This was backed up by 60 years of e-fish-iency who used his guile and control to bowl his ten straight overs taking 2 for 11
Early dismissals left Finchelieans reeling at 4 for 11 after 12 overs and they never really recovered.
Overseas Sam Gardiner took over from Khan’s pace battery, bowling ten economical overs to finish with 2 for 21.
Although the opposition tried to unravel the Park’s bowling plans with some questionable footwork, Khan came back into the attack to clean up the tail.
It was an improved performance in the field by the Park who held all chances that came to them and was capped off by a run-out by second-gamer Rob Morley dismissing the opposition for 71.
Openers Tom Liversidge and Adrian Holmes never let their competitors into the game with some entertaining stroke play.
This was broken at 26 when Holmes was dismissed unluckily LBW for nine.
Gardiner 13 not out took over and continued the positive play. A run-a-ball 40 not out from new boy Liversidge helped the Park cap off a dominant performance in only 13 overs.
