There’s just a few days to go before our first fixtures of the year, the sides have been picked and all looks set fair for a great opening weekend of the season.
On Saturday there are two games at the Park, where the firsts take on Indian Gymkhana and the seconds take on Watford.
The action continues at the Park on Sunday with another friendly, this time against Thurleigh Tourists. All the games start at 1pm.
It will be the first outing for the club for our Australian overseas signing, Sam Gardiner; if you are not playing why not pop down after Saturday’s game to say hello in the bar.
We are using a new system for availability and notification; you can state your availability using the Doodle link sent by cricket chairman Adam Sergeant and will receive a weekly email with details of who has been selected for which team. Captains will be responsible for confirming this by phone or text.
Please make sure you have supplied the club with an up-to-date email and phone number so this works as smoothly as possible.
It was heartening to see a great response to the first email about availability, so much so that the sides were picked just to make sure everyone gets a game.
On Saturday, it would also be helpful if players could arrive early for the games as there are still a few jobs to be completed to make the ground match-ready; for example, the sightscreen on the nets on the lower pitch needs to be put up.
