The competitive season may be over but on Sunday it’s the last match of the season when Bobby Crowe has his farewell match before he departs to Worthing (unless anyone can persuade him otherwise) when the Sunday XI play Harrow Wayfarers.
In this fixture two years ago, the Park posted 285 for 5, only for the opposition to cruise past us for the loss of only one wicket!
There should be a good gathering at the club for this special day. The match starts at 1pm.
Also this weekend there’s a grand wedding at the club of a young couple that have a strong affinity with Knebworth Park.
The final cricket action is next Saturday when a party of 24 heads off to watch the Royal London Final between Durham and Warwickshire at Lord’s. Fingers crossed for good weather to complete what should be an enjoyable day.
On the Sunday, it’s the juniors’ presentation afternoon. It is planned to hold some friendly matches during the afternoon from 2pm , with the awards handed out at 5pm.
We are also in the throes of compiling the season’s league averages. It is a long job with a pen. paper and adding up big numbers (especially the number of overs bowled by Graham Fisher) in your head, so it will be a few days before they can be posted. It is already throwing up some interesting statistics!
