Even Freddie, the team’s mascot who has watched most of the games this year, could not prevent already-relegated Thirds’ season ending in disappointing fashion as their batting crumbled against the eventual league champions Leverstock Green II. It was doubly hard to take as the bowlers had earlier dismissed a strong batting side for just 183 on a decent track having, at one point, looked to have been facing a score well over 250. Next year, they will be playing several divisions lower and will hope to be able to build on the superb spirit and energy the side has displayed in recent weeks, even in the face of what could have been some disheartening defeats.
