Web wonder: We have posted more than 300 items at kpcc.org.uk
Well, this is a touch embarrassing! Chairman Chris Johnson has decided to award the accolade this week to, ahem, the website team. Setting up and running the new site has truly been a team effort and everyone involved should be proud of helping to create a dynamic, up-to-date resource both for those already at the club or those wanting to find out about it. We have put up more than 300 stories across more than 50 individual pages, plus more than 40 galleries of images containing upwards of 1,000 pictures. We have also had to guard against spam and other nasties bombarding as the rate of about 40 messages an hour. While the idea and initial expertise came from Bret Painter and Ian Pickering, lots of people have contributed to the project, providing information, write-ups and pictures and this acknowledgment is a way to say a massive thank you to all of them. Richard Leather, Sam McCrow, Dave Barwick and Dave Mantle have provided detailed weekly match reports which they craft with great care. We have had fantastic professional quality images from Jonathan Cirkel, as well as Mike Jones, who won last week’s hero award for his efforts, plus great contributions from Oliver Minton. Thanks also go to Richard Roomans, Sue Stephens, David Baird and Kim Kerton for their words and pictures of junior matches. First team skipper Charlie Randall has provided an excellent blog, Hugh Bateson some very funny columns and coach Karun Jethi has offered authoritative insights into the team’s performance, as well as some hugely helpful coaching tips. There have been many others who have helped in other ways for which we are grateful. This season has been something of an experiment and next year we will have added functions such as team selection, availability, comprehensive fixture calendars and payments for subs. So, thank you all, keep us bookmarked and watch this space.
Every week, we salute the member or supporter who has gone that extra mile to help make our wonderful club that little bit more wonderful. We’d like to offer them a holiday in the sun or the latest smartphone for their selflessness but instead they will have to make do with this small public pat on the back.
