In form: Dave Barwick played shots all round the wicket in his half-century PICTURE: MIKE JONES
From last week’s famine with centuries and hat-tricks to choose from we go to something of a famine this week. James Leather continued his terrific season with a fighting half-century for the Firsts, while Guy Warman’s defiant 50 for the seconds also deserves a mention. But performance of the week goes to Dave Barwick who made an excellent 76 in the Fourths tough game against Luton Town and Indians. His knock put the side in sight of an unlikely victory chasing a big total and, although the chase faltered, was enough to secure a draw. Well played, Dave!
Every week, the chairman will select the player who has produced the most exceptional cricketing performance of the weekend programme. It won’t necessarily be the highest scorer nor the bowler who has the best figures but someone who has produced that little bit of magic to win a game or turn a match around. We hope his or her team-mates join the celebration by paying for their drinks at the bar.
Sam Robson best watch out!
