It proved impossible for the chairman to single out anyone for the accolade this week. Instead, he wants to salute all those who made our Music In The Park event such a success. There are probably too many people to mention and apologies to anyone who has not been given a name check. First, thanks to Shaun Robinson for organising the day, the wonderful Mark Folwell for a marathon stint behind the bar, the ever-cheerful Mark Taylor for a five-hour session behind the barbecue and Bobby Orlandi for DJing and providing the PA. There were innumerable others who chipped in by helping set up marquees, by fetching glasses for the bar staff, for manning the car park to collect entry fees and so on. Also, thanks to Gav Skeggs for providing the band, for performing and for taking care of our other acts. And finally to the acts themselves – Ed, Alex and Guido from the Oldtones and our superb singers Holli, Caroline, Vanessa and Emily, who all gave of their talent and time for free. It was a true team effort which led to an outstanding day. Thank you, all.
Every week, the chairman salutes the member or supporter who has gone that extra mile to help make our wonderful club that little bit more wonderful. We’d like to offer him or her a holiday in the sun or the latest smartphone for their selflessness but instead they will have to make do with this small public pat on the back.
