He may be on the injury list (again) but Ross Courtney has proved (again) what a fantastic Knebworth Park stalwart he is and so is this week’s club hero of the week (again). He went beyond the call of duty and looked after a Durham touring side who we hosted at short notice on Tuesday. They were on a youth tour and their opponents had let them down. While we didn’t have a full team, we provided the ground and they cobbled together a match. They made good use of the bar and the BBQ and had a great day. Struggling with a hamstring injury, he then saved the day for the Seconds on Saturday by standing at Letchworth when they were without an umpire.
Every week, the chairman salutes the member or supporter who has gone that extra mile to help make our wonderful club that little bit more wonderful. We’d like to offer him or her a holiday in the sun or the latest smartphone for their selflessness but instead they will have to make do with this small public pat on the back.
