Three stand-out performance from Adrian Holmes, Guy Warman and Jack Orchard were not quite enough to see Knebworth Seconds complete a deserved win on Saturday, as they hosted Sawbridgeworth II.
Losing the toss for the first time this season, KPCC were put into bat on a wet wicket in a reduced overs game.
Holmes continued his good form with a patient 65, while others batted around him. But it was not until the introduction Guy Warman, batting at five, did the Park really take the game to the visitors.
In a swashbuckling innings of 61 off 37 balls, the game turned on its head and gave Park the opportunity to post a good score. With contributions from McCrow and Ben Orchard lower down the order, KPCC posted a very competitive total of 189 off their 42 overs.
In reply, Sawbridgeworth got off to a brilliant start, with the normally reliable combination or McCrow and Warman bowling wayward.
The visitors soon raced to 50 for the loss of no wicket and at that point the game needed to change, if the Park were to have any chance of winning.
The introduction of Jason Timm from the top end and Jack Orchard from the Pavilion end soon paid dividends as the wickets began to tumble.
The ever-impressive Orchard bowled with great control and picked up his first five-wicket haul of the season, while at the other end the leg spin of Timm provided three wickets.
The Park got very close to getting the final two wickets but not quite close enough and a good game played by both sides ended in a draw.
