The club has been awarded a £1,000 grant to help in the purchase of new covers.
They have been ordered and should arrive next week. They’re much lighter and easier to move than the existing rather worn-out tarpaulin covers, pictured above.
Chairman Chris Johnson said: ‘They will be an invaluable asset to the club, making it much easier to keep the wicket dry and, potentially, helping us preserve fixtures we might otherwise have lost.
‘I’d like to thank David Baird for all his hard work in securing the financial support.
‘However, we all will need to help groundsman Ross Courtney to ensure that they are moved on and off and stored with good care.’
