The long wait…the long, cold dark days of winter… the misery of watching England humiliated by a distinctly ordinary Australian team and crashing ignominiously out of the world T20… we can put it all behind us.
The cricket season is upon us. Drag the kit bag out of the garage, put the stinking kit you left in there from the last game of last season in the wash and scrape the dried mud off your boots.
The session is set to run for three hours and is open to all those looking to play in the senior teams.
Head of cricket Graham Fisher said: ‘We hope as many as possible can attend as we seek to step up the tone that has been set through the winter where the direction and spirit has been excellent.
‘There are plenty of changes around this year with new captains, a new coach, really good growth of grass on the squares and new kit.’
This session will be the forerunner of the weekly Tuesday and Thursday training which starts next Tuesday.
There was an excellent work party last Saturday – well done and thanks to the many that turned up to help. Much was achieved. Some fixing up of the nets is all that remains to be done to finish preparing the ground for the new season,
The first senior matches will be on Saturday and Sunday at Easter with three against Watford on Saturday, April 19, and one at home to Chingford on Sunday, April 20.
The following week there are four Saturday matches and then the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams begin their league programmes on May 3.
We are still building this website so, for the time being, we will be using the old Pitchero site for availability and team selection. Alternatively let the team captains know your availability via the buttons under your usual team’s page on this site.
